Contacting Food Banks

I kept ringing the main Food Bank number in Coventry which puts you through to The Trussell Trust head quarters. I explained my project to them and asked permission to carry out my project with their blessing. Every time I rang, they said they would give me a call back when their manager returned, but after waiting a few days the call never came.

I didn't exactly know what to do because I thought that they clearly didn't like the idea of me carrying out my photography project. But I was determined to photograph the Food Bank system in Coventry because of how well it would fit into the development of my project, so I decided to google each of the separate Food Banks around the Coventry area to look for details that I could use to contact them directly instead of going through Trussell Trust.  After getting hold of these numbers and email addresses, I began contacting them and luckily some replied.

The first to reply was from the Willenhall Foodbank which was run through St John the Devine, the only way of contacting them was to ring the actual Church which put me through to Pam Howell the reverend. I told her about my project and what I wanted to do, making sure she knew that I wanted to photograph the volunteers instead of the clients which she was pleased about for safe guarding and privacy reasons. Pam then told me to email her my project details and what I wanted to do, so she could forward it onto the people who ran the food bank in Willenhall. (which is seen below)

The Willenhall food bank is ran every Wednesday between 11:00- 13:00, which I will visit tomorrow to begin documenting the food support which is offered to those who need it in the Coventry area.
