I feel like I can do this because I have shown through a photographic format how certain homeless individuals live day to day lives in tents in Manchester, and I feel like the last two shoots that I carried out were the result of months of research and development of my practice to shows these ideas. Which is why I feel like I have reached a part in my project where I can stop looking at how the homeless people are living, and begin photographing what sort of support there is for people who need it in terms of housing, food and other factors. The reason for moving my project onto this, is because I have spent a lot of time looking into the problem of homelessness and how they try to make do with what they have, but most of them are supported in small and big ways by charities who equally help the different individuals survive on the streets. It could be said that without these charities, many of the people I have photographed and talked about wouldn't have been able to survive.
Change in Project Direction
My last shoot in the drug tent and from watching Professor Green's the 'Hidden Homeless', has got me thinking about what sort of help is out there to help with people who are homeless or have very little and need extra support. Professor Green commented upon the fact that that most of the support that people can get is more through charities than the Government, so I thought it would be interesting for my next part of my project to show the support side of the story instead of focusing on how the people who need the support live. And the Bible in the drug tent has connected Professor Greens comment about charities to my practice, because a lot of these charities are partially ran through religious groups. And the Bible on the table, could've suggested that he was talking to a charity or church to help him find a path out of the situation that he has found himself in, which is why I think photographing the support system out their could be interesting.
